Like a Backhoe

Daddy uses heavy equipment at work many times------and you have been known to climb aboard to help him work out in our yard in the past...enough to know that most of that equipment MOVES objects. I'm definitely not the expert with heavy equipment but I, too, knew that they move objects........Thus, our game: Scoop me up like a backhoe. Lazy, not ready to go to bed days brought about the game. Upon Mommy's request to prepare for bed (whether nap time or bed time), I'd ask. If you wouldn't budge off the couch, I'd say, "Let me scoop you up like a backhoe!" You'd smile and oblige Mommy's request. I'd scoop you up and carry you right to bed for stories and zzz.........Somewhere along the line Daddy heard us talking about this and took up the deed of being the backhoe. Thus, the smiles and giggles multiplied! Daddy, obviously knowing more about the backhoe, added sound effects and mirrored movements of an actual backhoe! He even has the upper body strength to move 37.5lbs of princess right to her queen sized bed! I loved, loved watching him scoop you up tonight----------and your smile! Just radiant.......

Earlier this evening, I needed to finish ironing clothing to get it hung back into our closets. I asked you if you wanted to color in your coloring book while I ironed. You agreed. You told me that you wanted to color me a picture. After coloring a picture for me and tearing it out, you wanted to write my name on it. To make it easier on you, I spelled out just the word MOM for Mommy, that you call me. You wrote...mo....and then moved to the bottom of the page since you ran out of room, you asked me to spell it again and you wrote...mom...then you said,"Again Mommy....I wrote an L." Thus, I spelled out the rest of my name and you wrote it.......squeezing in letters where you could! I just love these little lessons....these perfect toddler letters......

I love you! I had to laugh tonight when you said, "Daddy, Mommy's counting, hurry!"
