Voice

Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 was the first day of Voice lessons! The first day of your second semester of voice lessons that is.....I haven't even polished up the draft of your May voice show, Legends of Song, to publish!! We just received our CD's of May's performance. We haven't even watched it entirely. You were able to watch a few minutes of the opening songs prior to packing snacks to drive to Friendship!

Watching "Legends of Song"
And yet, it's time.........you are already listening to your new songs in the truck with Mommy as we're buzzing around town attacking errands and driving to the park & play dates-----and soon school! When we arrived in Friendship, TN at Studio on Main this past Tuesday, we found Miss Hannah (Mrs. Katie's helper) on the bench with her guitar along with Banks, Mrs. Katie's little man. They were enjoying quiet time before your first ensemble gathered to reunite------and sing! When you saw Miss Hannah & Banks, you approached with them with excitement & just a touch of hesitation! This first picture indications that touch of hesitation before you climbed into Miss Hannah's lap to strum the strings of her guitar! Prior to that, you ran inside, eagerly greeting Mrs. Katie with a mouth full of conversation------telling her that you have your own maraca from Greece that Mommy bought you this summer. The confidence that you exhibited walking in to class without tears was superb! I was so proud of you. This unfamiliar territory that we walked upon just a few months ago in January is now familiar to you. You've mastered this milestone & I look forward to each voice lesson, each Tuesday's drive to Friendship as you continue to blossom & sing........

Miss Hannah, Banks-----and Sophia
Miss Hannah & Sophia

Miss Hannah comforted you many times during your first semester of voice lessons! She made sure to hold your hand and tell you that Mommy is near. Her presence was a calming spirit for both of us as we both jumped those hurdles of "firsts" together. Even on the stage during your performance, Miss Hannah made sure that she was near when the curtains closed (and it was pitch dark).

And again.........
You were delighted to try out Miss Hannah's guitar one more time! I smiled through the window as you confidently stood outside (without hanging on Mommy) enjoying the company of familiar faces, the guitar------and a few tunes of Old Mac Donald Had a Farm before your first Voice lesson this semester!

"Saturday".........just one word of the songs on your new CD in the truck but before we both think about it, we'll have these tunes memorized too........and if they are not playing immediately after you are buckled in, I hear:

"Mommy, I want my new songs!"
