Labor Day Weekend in Pictures

One. Two. Three. It was a three day weekend filled with "labors of love"-------we filled our weekend with a little bit of everything we love--------notice the cat whiskers emerging again Saturday morning after an unstructured day in the playroom......and a dressed up Pinkalicious who was chanting, "Pinkalicious wants some lipstick!"------and just as fleeting was that request before you requested to paint.......and paint...and paint! Needless to say, Mommy will have to restock our paint supply after this weekend.
Painting Pumpkins
.....and five little pumpkins later!
Flip-flop feet........couldn't resist this shot!
Little hands, little fingers------fingernails painted purple from Friday afternoon
Developing fine motor skills...a perfect grip...We recycle lids and use them for projects! I loved it this weekend when you emptied your candy apple box and rather than throwing it away, you placed it in our wine bottle cubbies in the kitchen which are now taken over with art supplies for endless projects! As you walked over there to place your little paper box in a cubbie, you said something about wanting to save it to create a project with it! Mini me....
Daddy & Sophia
This smile captures our JOY as the three of us enjoy one another on family day-----there's nothing sweeter than being together: Sharing smiles, food, new & old experiences! And you, our little gymnast, decided that today was the day you'd FLIP! You love to jump on the "bungy chords" at the mall-------just when I had left to venture downstairs to one of my favorite stores, Ann Taylor, you decided to impress Daddy with flips! That upper body strength is AMAZING! I hate that I missed this first but was thrilled that my two dare devils experienced it together-----and that Daddy was able to share this first with you this Sunday! I can't wait to see your next flip in the air---not those that create pump knots on your forehead like the one that emerged today  when you toppled off the kitchen bench onto the hard, tile floor! You just know how to make Mommy's heart race....
A little shopping at the GAP for you----& I must make sure your new shirt is clean by morning! You wanted to wear it today around the house/town and tomorrow at school! Oh! The demands of you.......You remember these moments when Mommy wants to wear the same X in her old age----and you're the one staying up to wash it!
Adding dress-up clothes to your Christmas wish list...we were able to venture out of the Disney store with just a new pair of pajamas that you needed for these cooler, fall days that are promising to come---Princess pajamas for our little princess who wanted to go to the boat store (Bass Pro)....for Daddy to shop for himself or maybe for your own pleasure: to climb aboard all the equipment...Luckily, you hear Mommy's voice to buckle up!!
Trying out the four wheelers.......and......
A pot of gold at the end of our rainbow? Of course, we have you! I loved that you had the opportunity to look out of the truck window to see this rainbow prior to stopping at Target to enjoy popcorn and coke with Daddy! And a loonnnnnnnng trip home when we were all ready to be out of the truck and back home------the comforts of home never cease to draw us in just when we thought we needed more........we realize that home is where the heart is!
a magical moon, led us to the fairgrounds...
Dyer County Fair Week, Sept. 3-8: Your Anticipation Sparked
Sharing your school work & more: Monday afternoon at the kitchen table
Sophia's Ferris Wheel
.......I loved, loved, loved this ferris wheel that you painted today. You requested to paint this morning and I asked you what you'd like to paint...would you like to paint a ferris wheel? You told me that you didn't know how. I poured out blue paint and told you that all you had to do was paint a circle with lines drawn back to the circle. You listened and reached for the paint brush and paper--------but your wheel was turning! I love that little mind of yours that works in overdrive! You requested additional paint colors for the lights on the ferris wheel! I was delighted with the end result and framed it for our fair week. As I stand at the kitchen sink preparing your breakfast, making coffee, washing dishes, preparing your lunch box, & more------I will look at it and know that this Labor Day weekend was one to always cherish------our "labors of love" pay off when we slow down the clock, pull out the photographs-------and those not taken that will always resonate in our hearts.........all that we do, whether joyously or with a disgruntled attitude----you'll always put life in perspective for me. There's nothing more important than time together------whether filling it with labor or lounging, lazy days------carving out time to just enjoy one another is worth the labor of the year, the month, the week, the day, the moment, the second--------with you, with one another!
