It's Saturday! I know you are thankful for it-----no schedules, no where to go----stay home with Mommy day! I'm just as thankful for today as you are.........We both slept in past our normal weekly time to wake up for preschool. I nestled myself on the couch for coffee and you joined me a few minutes later for milk and a banana! Those two items were your breakfast requests----and we were out of both of them! Luckily, we had Refrigerator Oatmeal with Strawberries for you! It had fresh strawberries, yogurt, milk, honey, chia seeds, & oatmeal in it for you to enjoy so we could stay in our pajamas a little longer! We love these yogurt/oatmeal jars for breakfast that our friend, Mrs. Ashley, introduced us to late this summer. I'll jot down the recipe for you here so that you can make them for years to come. I love putting it in your lunch box for you to eat at preschool. Last week, I added it to your lunchbox mix and you were so delighted. You came home and said, "Mommy, I told Mrs. Tracy that I've never had yogurt in my lunchbox before!" And the best part was that you were finally eating your packed lunch at school---I was so proud of you! And you gave me one less item to stress about while you're away from me!
After eating your breakfast and enjoying a few cartoons, we moved into the kitchen to paint popsicle sticks for turkey feathers-------we added orange paint to our canvas pumpkin! And we worked on your turkey project for preschool. Glue, paper, paints, and more filled our kitchen table once more! I'm always standing around the kitchen organizing everything, wiping down our table, sweeping, mopping, & more but every minute in there reminds me of times spent with you!
We fed Princess Girl and you spent your morning time petting her before we left the house for a few Autumn snapshots underneath the cascading rainbow of leaves-----golds, reds, orange, browns.......You were absolutely stunning in this mini Saturday photo session! I needed a second camera to capture you holding Mommy's camera taking pictures of me! You were a mini photographer-------a few clipped off Mommies before you snapped a few pictures of my smile that you fill my face with time and time again!
Our next Saturday morning adventure was stopping in at Dollar General to finish out our shopping list for our Operation Christmas Child boxes! We were not in there long before your baby doll was disregarded in the shopping basket and a new one was wrapped in its box in your arms! You reluctantly put her down and asked if we could please come back tomorrow to buy her. As the tears stopped at your eyelids, Mommy handed you a old fashioned peppermint stick to enjoy as I checked out. You made your way through two marshmallow sticks too before we made it back home to enjoy a bowl of cereal for lunch outside at the picnic table as you watched Princess Girl lap up her milk that we placed outside for her. You laughed when she wiggled to get the dust off her fur. You mimicked her and asked why did she shake like that--and you watched on in delight as she rolled around in the leaves. You laid down too to roll like a kitty cat. You said, "Now, we're both kitty cats!"
And off to bed for nap time.....you wrapped your little arms around my shoulders and let me hold your little hand in mine. As your eye-lids closed, your breath slowed but it smelled of peppermint sticks! Stilled by this brief moment in time, I thought of how much I love you my little peppermint turkey! I had called you a little turkey after reading 10 Fat Turkeys to you before bedtime and you stated, "I'm not a turkey!" But, you are my little turkey-----it was about this time of year when I discovered that I was pregnant with you in November of 2007!
