The song, "Toyland, toyland, Little girl and boy land when you dwell within it, you are ever happy there! Childhood joyland, mystic merry toyland, once you pass its borders, you can ne'er return again!" reminds me to allow your own mystic merry toyland in our home to be your haven! And it has been!! For days!! Last week during Thanksgiving break, you played and played and played! Every dress up item, puzzle, marker, baby doll was strewn all over the playroom floor!! And many, many little bits and pieces of toys kept creeping into our living room, hallways, kitchen-----and back to your bedroom and through the house again!
Monday, when school was back in session, you wanted baby dolls and backpacks and baby bottles to come to school with you! You weren't finished playing! We had to opt to leave the babies in the truck! Luckily, I was able to coax you with the fact that you'd be the leader on Tuesday and would soon be able to select the toy of your choice to go into the sharing bag for show and tell at school. Well, today was your LEADER day and the bag came home! Tucked away in that bag is your American Girl Itty Bitty Baby, Litsa (as you named her two years ago when you received her for Christmas)-----you have her ready to share with your classmates tomorrow!
There was so much pep in your step this morning as you walked into your classroom with a painted Christmas canvas that the two of us finished up yesterday after the local Christmas parade. I was so proud of you! This evening you told daddy that you were not grouchy in the morning and that you had a good day! And you were absolutely right! I love easy mornings like this one---------and such pleasant nights too!
One of my favorite moments tonight was when you were singing about Baby Jesus in his manager and how Mary rocked him and sang to him! So, so sweet to see your little hands cupped like a cradle and your little hands pressed together with your ear on them as you sang that he laid on the hay! Love!
I also loved how you played with your little babies in the playroom admist the array of toys in your toyland tonight. You didn't want to pick the toys up because you were not finished playing but when Mommy said she'd clean up while you played, you didn't realize that thirty minutes later the entire playroom was neatly organized and you were able to find what you wanted to play with as you fed your babies and organized their playthings in a little cardboard treasure box. You even commented about how some items didn't belong where Mommy placed them (you know where they belong but want them out so you can play with everything all at once!)! Mommy slipped out a few items from the playroom into the mission bag because we have so much in our toyland! There's more toys arriving for Christmas and we must prepare a place for them! You love your things as much as I love mine and aren't ready to part with them even when you don't play with them and when you've outgrown them but as you get a little older, I know that you'll share everything you have as Mommy does.
Until then, I'll let you enjoy your childhood joyland.......once you pass its borders, you can never return again---------may your toyland, your childhood be the foundation of a blessed life!
I love to watch you little princess! You, dressed in princess attire, loving on your little baby dolls----------you are priceless!
