Green Games

There's always fun to be had-----the smiles that abound are unexpected! When the alarm went off this morning, I wasn't ready to wake up....I leaned in next to you and saw the prettiest little lips and the covers pulled tightly around your neck. Beautiful. Daddy-O came into your room about seven and we both popped out of bed. My coffee was brewing and a little mischief was too......a little green mischief!?!

Caroline just couldn't wait until the end of October. She found Mommy's hiding place and pulled a few dress-up items from your playroom........cat gloves and a tail! And of course, she couldn't locate the kitty's ears so she decided to be a Princess-Kitty but a giving one indeed! She had a little American Girl box in her hand. I was pouring my coffee and I heard ruffles of paper. Daddy and I met you in the living room to find you holding a little green, pea costume!?! Caroline wasn't even green with envy that it was for Baby Litsa and not her!!

The little green pea pod costume came with a tiny little book that we read as you brushed your teeth for preschool. It was already after eight when we discovered pumpkins in the back of the book waiting for faces! "Mommy, can we draw them now!?" How could Mama say no!?! We took time for you to draw the little pumpkin's faces-----and kissed all three kittens goodbye too! The pumpkin faces were: Princess Girl, Mama, and Ms. Betsy, your preschool teacher! Baby Litsa came to preschool with us this morning for your Dino Bag show and tell!

After preschool, you changed into pajamas again and curled up on the couch for a few cartoons. You were awfully sleepy but opted to come to the kitchen to see what Mommy was brewing. Juices. Carrot juice that was orange like your jack-o-lanterns and then something green!?! Kale and turnip greens! You helped me wash them and juice them. The green veggies were a first for us both! We normally juice apples, carrots, and oranges but I wanted us to explore juicing with a few more vegetables and fruits. The final concoction was green, green, green! You couldn't even see the "sunny" yellow lemons that we threw into to break the 'green' bitterness of the greens! Just as I was cleaning the juicer, I saw you sneak towards the brews. I made a beeline for my camera (that is always low of batteries) but I managed to capture you sneaking a drink of carrot juice which I knew you liked but the green brew was right beside it. I hadn't even tasted it myself yet!?!

This is what you thought of the green brew!?! I snapped this picture right after your little body shuddered! "Mommy, you shouldn't have put that lemon in there!?!" I can't even say that we could taste the lemon little one but we concocted a new juice by adding in carrot juice, apple juice------and then we tried it again! Perfect! Even you agreed that it was better....and you kept drinking our green brew!!

I love all of you little one! You fill me up! As you're finishing your afternoon nap, I'm giving thanks to the one that gives us these green gifts of gratitude! The grass will never be greener on the other side. It's within our own homes---our own bodies that we find the greenest gifts to gather and call our own. Always remember that.....Psalm 37: "Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord;trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land."

I love you little one and I pray that you will inherit the earth! I pray that God's desires for you are placed in your heart so that your own desires for your life may be those of the Lord!
