Cherries

It's cherry season in the village! While we were enjoying a foggy morning that hid the mountain views on the veranda, others were cherry picking from the cherry tree in our backyard (in a tiny garden my grandmother once tended)!?! Papou brought a pan full of cherries for us to enjoy.

It's not summer without these ruby, red jewels. A pan of cherries reminded you of the pair of cheery-cherry-red ear-rings that Yiayia sported every summer when she was a girl growing up in the village without ear-rings. Although you have your little ears pierced this year, it was a memory worth repeating as we were reminded of one of her stories of play----hanging cherries as ear-rings for a snapshot! A few laughs as Papou hung 'cherry' ear-rings on your ears and you hung them on my ears....and a few cherries eaten......and we were busy helping sort the cherries to share with other family/friends----and of course storing to eat throughout the week!

Sometimes what brightens our days are these entirely unexpected moments of joy! The stories we share with our family and carry in our hearts------that revisit us when we see again the jewel that bears the fruit of joy held captive in our hearts.

Life is a bowl of sweet, sweet cherries!

Savor the moments of joy!

I love you little one!
