“Mommy, Tell Me…”

Every day is a new beginning------a day filled with blessings that get lost in the shuffle of life. Thus, I vow to capture as many of those unexpected moments of joy right here for you, Sophia------a blog…a book…a story…our legacy! Each entry will capture snapshots of our lives and like a deck of cards these stories and memories may set on the shelf until you’re ready to discover the "deck of" memories…or until daddy or I need to reread them to remember the moments we won’t ever get back again. I discovered the world of blogs over a year ago and found myself reading stories of others…their stories because I find the human element of family---the joys and sorrows bind us together as one world…and that we are more alike than we are different as a human race. After many hours of reading personal and professional blogs last year, I found myself working for a personal/deal blog, How to Have It All in the fall of 2011---all along working on getting our family blog designed so that it can encompass my thoughts, my stories of you, Sophia. Thus, I welcome our friends and family to follow our lives but in essence these rambling thoughts and moments here are for you little one. Mommy’s baby, you will always be…I still want to bundle you in my arms and hold you, kiss you, and tell you just how much I love you but you’re full of energy as you ask…and tell...

Just last week as we were visiting Kroger, you stopped to ask others, “What’s your name?” After they’d answer, you’d respond, “My name is Sophia Princess Mermaid!”

Today, after preschool you said, “Mommy, tell me I’m “Squoozey”---I asked you to repeat it and the word again came out to “squoozey”—I repeated a few words in Greek and English trying to translate your new word. I thought you were saying in Greek---“squoozey—make a loud sound” but that didn’t make sense in our setting because nothing was loud. As I tried to decipher your request, you repeated it. I could tell that you wanted mommy to comprehend it by the look on your face (when I’m decoding toddler talk)-----“Mommy, tell me I’m gorgeous!”

Yes! Sophia Princess Mermaid, you are gorgeous! I love you more than these stories of unexpected joy will ever unfurl---as does Daddy-O!
