This post was written in early August as you entered preschool at three years old/two months.....
Our
little baby girl, Sophia, is now our “little school girl”! Monday, August 8th,
2011 defined the beginning of a new season in our lives. Daddy woke up early as
always and prepared for his work week! With a pot of Folgers coffee, Fox News,
& his mental list in mind, he left for work after watering our seasonal
purple petunias that have earned our household “BEAUTY SPOT of the MONTH” two
years in a roll (July 2010 & July 2011)! However, daddy’s mind was not
completely focused on his normal routine of the week’s workload or if our
petunias were getting enough water prior to the day’s scorching heat! Daddy was
thinking of his little three year old---“daddy’s little blessing” as he often
refers to you, Sophia! Mommy didn’t even realize how much daddy’s thoughts were
amiss until her cell phone was ringing just minutes after dropping Sophia off
at Dyersburg First United Methodist Church Preschool! And then again when daddy
called at ten o’clock saying he couldn’t stand it any longer! He was going to
go pick up his little girl! Mommy reassured him that beyond the tears of mommy
leaving you at preschool that you were eager to attend (at least in
spirit/toddler readiness).
How we as parents want the best for you! For three
years, daddy knew he was leaving you behind with me to care for you while he
left for work. Now, he & I both have to trust your caregivers/teachers at
preschool, Mrs. Becky & Mrs. Donna, to love you and care for you as they
teach you. New ground for us as parents to tread! As we share you during those
morning hours at preschool, we seek God to comfort our hearts & go before you
to prepare perfect paths for you while you attend preschool!
Now, you are just four weeks from finishing your three-year old preschool class and enjoying your fourth birthday........
Daddy picked you up from preschool today (usually that's Mommy's job) since he was leaving to work in Kentucky again! You ran through the front door of our home full of energy and said, "Mommy, I didn't cry today at school (finally---this spring, we fell into sync with drama-free drop offs!?!)!" You wrapped your arms tight around my legs and sat down to eat your lunch-------"Mommy, I missed you!"
I, too, miss you when you're away from me Sophia Princess Mermaid! I'm eager to hear all about your day (You don't always share tidbits about your school day now but a few stories come out through pretend play!)! Always remember that Mommy is waiting for you----ready to hear all about your day!
