Cookie Monster

The recipe below is Mrs. Polly's (our neighbor) famous chocolate chip cookies! We've had them with and without the oatmeal (and she leaves out the nuts since everyone doesn't like nuts she says). However, I can honestly say that these cookies are the best any way she bakes them. I'm sure that even Cookie Monster would agree. Or at least, I'm Cookie Monster himself! When Mrs. Polly would bake these cookies for an event, she would bring Mommy a heaping plate of these delightful cookies. Within minutes, I would discover the entire plate of cookies gone! I would eat them instantaneously especially when you were a little baby and the two of us were home alone all day long! Recently, she made them for your fourth birthday party and they were superb as always! I remembered to request this decadent recipe for our family to bake together------and share with others throughout our lives!

Neiman-Marcus Cookies (Mrs. Polly’s Delicious Cookies)
2 cups butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoon baking baking soda
3 cups blended oatmeal
1 24 oz package chocolate chips
3 cups chopped nuts
1 8 oz grated Hershey Bar

Cream butter & both sugars. Add eggs & vanilla. Mix together the flour, oatmeal (measure & blend to fine powder in blender), add salt, baking powder, & baking soda. Add chocolate chips, grated Hershey’s Bar & nuts. Roll into balls & place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.

Bake 6 minutes @ 375 degrees F.

Makes 112 cookies.

I find it interesting that these cookies are named Neiman-Marcus Cookies. I can remember a few occasions of retail days in Neiman-Marcus. No wonder I love these cookies----what a small piece of luxury (and one in every bite).
