Mornings are never dull around here. I climbed out of bed a little later than I like with sleepy eyes seeking coffee. Luckily, Daddy was here to make me a pot of coffee. Just as he ventured out the backdoor, your kitty cat meowed for her breakfast and you started calling his name, "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy...." A little louder each time....He didn't hear you so Mommy called him to come back in to find you. Princess Girl was continuing to meow for her breakfast and you wanted to feed her before eating yours........cartoons and morning dress time. This is what you selected....purple leggings with a puppy dog applique cotton tee...your polka-a-dotted cardigan and your winter "sha"-boggan! Mommy corrected you....toboggan! Instantly, you asked why does Daddy say "sha"-boggan? Smiling and laughing as you tossed the words on those little lips I love so much! It's frustrating trying to make you understand clothing for various seasons. I've removed several pieces for the mission again and others to give away to a friend. Still other items have been moved to the spring/summer pile-----and still the clothing battles in the morning persist. You want to choose your attire. I loved this little outfit today with your Ugg boots that you're quickly outgrowing. It was colorful and all about YOU. Sometimes I just have to let you choose and control what you wish......It wasn't long after preschool drop off that you shed the cardigan and toboggan and just enjoyed the cotton tee & leggings-----and you had a great day at preschool. That matters more to me than what you're wearing.......and the smile that beamed on your face when I picked you up early (only fifteen minutes early but enough to brighten your afternoon)!
I have to agree that we miss some great cartoons while you are in preschool during the week----and after school our afternoons and evenings stay so busy that we aren't even thinking about watching cartoons. Last year when you were only in a half day preschool program, we enjoyed more of our favorites. These cartoon characters became our friends. I'm sure you do miss them.........I loved it this morning when Team Umi Zoomi, Dora, Diego, Olivia, & others came on the television screen with their Halloween attire and song........You instantly asked, "Mommy, next week when I'm home for fall break, can we watch all of these cartoons?" Yes. Yes, we can. I'll pull out a schedule of shows we can schedule in to watch amongst other activities at home.
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate........three little projects waiting, don't be late! I love how each of these projects that we started today have turned out thus far. We'll continue them tomorrow! I may just have to steal project number 3 from you to add to my Halloween coffee bar! I loved how when you were working on painting the black canvas you said, "This one's for Ms. Tracy." Working on projects that you want for yourself but voicing what you're feeling in your heart-------the voice of giving is perfect. I loved hearing these little words from you giving Mommy a glimpse of what's in your heart and the connection you are finally making with preschool and your teacher, Ms. Tracy. If you voice this again when the project is finished, we'll share it with her. I want the decision to be yours. Although, I can already tell you that Mommy was looking forward to these art projects being mine. At least, I'll have these pictures and memories forever painted in my heart.
After prepping step one of each of these projects, we ventured outside to soak up the fresh fall air. We hid behind massive oak trees to have Princess Girl find us. We ran to the backyard to hide behind pecan trees and she found us there too. I loved the laughter that erupted from you.........the endless energy that pulls me from my thoughts, my projects, my agenda..........and beckons me to the here and now!
Peek-A-Boo! I love being with you little princess! You are just what I needed. You helped me find what I was looking for today..........a joyous Wednesday watching you grow, learn, create, and embrace the moment.
