Time Out

When I picked you up from preschool today on the first day of October, you quickly shared with me that you did not have a sticker and that you had to sit in Time Out! I'm sure it won't be your last.........and I'm not so sure it was your first but I can say that it was the first time you told on yourself. Your words and sentences were running together about not listening to Ms. Tracy and something about screwdriver, paintbrush, etc. When I tried to make heads and tails of your stream of words/sentences. You'd say no and continue again. I wanted to laugh but didn't. We discussed the importance of listening and after opening your backpack, I discovered the worksheet that you were talking about....obviously you were not listening during instructions. You had to erase the incorrect answer and circle the correct one-------the shorter of the two objects. I am proud of you though for telling Mommy about your day. When I looked in your lunchbox, I discovered that you had only eaten one piece of pineapple and drank your mini juice box. I'm not sure if the "choosing not to listen" came before lunch or after lunch but my guess as your Mom would be after lunch! You have to eat little one! You consume everything in your lunchbox and more the minute you are in my care again------in the truck, through the backdoor, at the kitchen table, all the way to ballet......oh! The challenge course you have me running! It's full of obstacles and hoops without a lot of directions!

I love you dearly and I pray that this month will bring us many relaxing, uneventful days. We enjoyed a weekend full of relaxing time at home and I promise you that we'll fill the month with as many of these time out weekends, days, & evenings as possible so that the downtime at home encourages YOU & balances out the rules/directions you must follow at preschool.

Today, I also loved that you told Mommy, "Today we learned about the letter Q!" You even shared about the number five-------and the date, "October 1st!" Daddy & I look forward to you telling us about your days at preschool-----even though today's main story was about Time Out. I had to give Daddy the evil eye as you were telling him about your time out session to make sure he didn't laugh or encourage more Time Out instances at preschool! You were glued to his eyes looking for Daddy rules/feedback which are often more pliable than Mommy's. He passed the test. We'll be eager to hear about your preschool day tomorrow! Fingers crossed........
