Our weekend ended Sunday night with me creating impromptu Once Upon a Time stories in the dark......as soon as the lights went out, you asked for books but I told you that we'd have stories instead (a Sunday without a nap required an earlier bedtime)---I was thinking silently as to what I'd like to recreate for you. At the same time the idea was in my head to recreate the three bears and Goldilocks to you with a Christmas version, you too said, "Mommy, do the three bears Christmas!" I beamed with delight in the dark------you are reading my thoughts now! So the story began..........(and now it's Monday and I've heard you tell me/Daddy at least twice that you were going to ask Santa for the book, The Three Bears Christmas -----remember that Mommy made up the story as she saw fit...there's not a book with Mommy's exact words......next time, I'll have to make sure I record our story)......However, as I sat here to recount our magical Monday, I searched Amazon for a copy of a twist on the traditional story------indeed there is a copy! I'll have to order it for you with the $25 Amazon gift card that Mommy won this week for scouting deals for a blogging site. I hope that it'll pacify you until I can recount the oral retelling of my story into a written piece of work for you to enjoy hearing again, reading each Christmas with me, and illustrating it as we retell it together! I love your imagination and the pieces of our lives that are entwined together!
I'm still memorized by the magical moments of today. As breakfast started-----milk and yogurt/oatmeal, we turned the news over to the Disney channel. The commercial of Princess Sofia grabbed your attention once again this morning. I told you that I'd pencil it in for us to enjoy on Sunday evening at six o'clock. It's a new Disney program that Mrs. Dee told me about last month. Luckily, we have the Disney channel and you'll be sure to enjoy it. At dinnertime you even told Daddy that we were going to watch it. Thus, you remembered our date all day long! Daddy promised to watch it with you too so we'll make it a family affair. Maybe it was Princess Sofia that put that magic into our Monday morning!?!
Actually, there was one more commercial that grabbed your undivided attention this morning. A little girl around the age of six was ready for school with her backpack on---she stepped over her pjs but when she passed them, she turned around, picked them up, folded them and tucked them under her pillow. We both turned to one another and said, "She's helping her Mommy!" I always encourage you to help Mommy pick up throughout the day around the house, in the car, while out shopping, etc. As I headed towards the kitchen to grab a second cup of coffee, I saw you jump off the couch too and start undressing (alone. on a school day. without a fuss. with a smile on your face)........as I arrived into the living room, you laid your pajama top on the couch and asked me how to fold it. You folded your bottoms next and placed them in the drawer for the next time we'd need them. You helped Mommy finish dressing you, you grabbed your backpack, and ASKED me if your lunchbox was ready to be zipped up for school. I was thrilled. I made a mental note to be dressed and ready to go before waking you! Oh! My! I didn't know if you were my child or not but you soon remembered that Princess Girl was waiting for her breakfast. You loved on her this morning and asked for your coat. You added the scarf that Yiayia made for you but when I walked in with my purple scarf you asked if we could share and if I could wear yours and you could wear mine. You really didn't wait for a response. You pulled the purple scarf from around my neck onto yours! Yes. You were my little girl------you set your mind to something and you do it! You love purple and although you were on a WINNING streak this morning, you couldn't resist pulling the scarf off me and onto you before my response. However, with as smoothly as this morning was unfolding you, I would have given you more than just my purple scarf! Into the truck, through the front doors of preschool---------and in with a smile along with your backpack on YOUR back, your lunchbox in your hand, and an extended hand for Mommy to walk you down the hall as YOU hung your backpack up and put everything where it belonged this morning! No tears. I still received my extra hugs and kisses this morning and the request to "pick me up early" but the enthusiasm and independence you exhibited was superb! I was beaming with the confidence you showed as well.
All of this gave me the energy to work diligently in cleaning our house from top to bottom, finish tasks for work, have a friend over for lunch, and more! The magic didn't end with the morning either. You were eager to please at pick-up, speech, and ballet! Superb! You even had your requested dinner cooked for you: Meatloaf! You've been asking for days-----well, you were delighted as you talked through dinner sharing your day with Daddy as to how you helped Mommy! You played doctor with Daddy, enjoyed a bath, bedtime stories---------and left me with magical memories this Monday! You kissed and hugged me--------and jabbed me in the side with your busy feet numerous times tonight but I know I'll miss those jabs one day too! I still remember the little jabs of feet in my side when you were in my belly. Your little feet are a little more forceful now but your zest for life mimics how quick they flutter! You energy is endless. You told me that the writing center would be closed tomorrow because everyone made a mess in it today. When you said you didn't want to go to school, I reminded you of your superb day today! I asked you if you'd ever painted with a feather! And you said, "That's silly!" But, I told you that your school calendar said that you'd paint with a feather tomorrow. That put a silly laugh in your soul! You asked if I could come watch you. I said that I didn't know what time you'd paint. You said, "Right after snack Mommy! Ms. Wanda has to get the paints ready first!" You are a schedule girl. You pay attention to the details like Mommy does. Of course you would too; you're Mommy's little girl. Your requests didn't end there. You asked if I'd come watch you sing on stage at preschool. I said, "YES!" You laughed and hugged me. In the night, your brain pulls out a stream of thoughts------I asked if you'd sing, "We wish you a Merry Christmas!" and you said, "first twinkling stars song, then the candy cane song, and THEN, We wish you a Merry Christmas!" I smiled and kissed you back, "Yes, I'll come watch you sing!" I reminded you that you didn't get to sing at preschool last year because you were out sick and at the doctor getting ear tubes put in your ears. You took in that information and then turned the conversation over to questions about where we'd sit at your music show for Voice. Without getting into more information, I told you we'd wait to see where Ms. Katie would have you stand on the stage before we determined where we'd sit. You stated that you'd be in front and we could sit in the first row to watch you!
I'm proud of you little one------you are worthy of center stage with the spotlight on you! Thank you for every follow through effort on your part today. Thank you for being YOU. After you fell asleep, I came to the kitchen and found two little purple slippers discarded under the kitchen table where we spend our days at eating, coloring, crafting----------and more! I'm sure that if a prince were to come gather them up to find what princess they belong to, your little flip flop toes and jabbing feet would fit them perfectly! I love you!
I was drawn to the slippers under the table tonight and immediately thought to pick up my camera because Daddy used to leave little baby shoes laying around the house when I was pregnant with you to remind him that little feet would soon fill our home. Now all of our days are filled with you------one need not look far to know you fill our home with love, slippers, paint, baby dolls, dress-up clothes, colors, and more! Next, to Daddy's chair you'll see remnants of the river from his Timberland boots--------I wanted to count it as fairy dust for additional magical moments for the week but its on my clean floors!! I'd sweep and mop again but the night has come to a close and I have no other choice than to leave the pieces of our lives in their places and give thanks for a Magical Monday!
