Seven o'clock arrived really early this morning--------I didn't even hear my phone's alarm! Daddy happened to be home and came to wake me. Just as I sat down to drink coffee, it was time to wake you too......Daddy turned on your lamp and spoke to you. He came back into the living room and said, "She doesn't like to get up in the morning does she?" Ha. Who does when you have something on your agenda? Now if every day was a pajama day....... And oh! Sleeping in on cool, quiet winter mornings are the best especially if you stayed up reading until weee hours of the night-----as Mommy did after reading to you!
And speaking of reading to you.....we pulled books out of the bed in piles last night together! We read and read and searched the sideboards of your bed and more books emerged! We had a lake-size pool of books littering your bedroom floor. We finally stacked them neatly tonight to take them back into the playroom for new books to read and reread in the days to come. I loved it when you asked for one more book to read last night. You specifically asked about the color book. I initially thought you wanted me to read about Skippy Jon Jones but it was Robert Muncsh's Purple, Green, & Yellow book that you wanted us to read! We found it and read it-----then a gleam of mischief filled your eyes (just like Daddy). You told me that when you were playing in your playroom, you would color your fingernails purple and then color your body like a rainbow next! Hmm.....books give us BIG ideas don't they? But how wonderful are all of these ideas that fill our lives with anticipation, wonder, fantasy, goals, and more----------I love that you enjoy reading like Mommy does!
Finally, when you too arrived sleepy-eyed on the couch this morning----Daddy was getting on his boots to head out to work. You commented on the dried dirt piles all across Mommy's clean floors. I smiled. As did Daddy------saying, "Mini Me!" I spend as much time reminding us all to keep the house picked up as I do cleaning. I'm guilty of telling Daddy to clean up his little dirt piles that come with his line of work---------not that I can't sweep and mop them one more time but...... And I love to walk barefoot in our home....Thus, dirt piles get to be annoying. Although, I silently thank God for them. They signify work that helps provide for our family. Additionally, they remind me of the man that Daddy is-----------never lazy, always hard at work....
The day unfolded with Daddy heading to work. Mommy took you to preschool and met a student to teach about coupon-ing to this morning. Then a quick trip to Kroger, a walk at the park-------in unseasonably warm temperatures! And time with you again.....It was pick up time at preschool. As I opened the door to let another mom out of the building, she smiled and said, "She looks just like you! A true Mini-Me!" I had to laugh and share with her the way Daddy said the same thing this morning---------but only after you were pointing out his dirt piles to him!
I love seeing me in you-------the better sides of me! Ha! But I also love seeing Daddy in you too! Another fun---Mini Me Moment today was when we were in the bathroom brushing our teeth before school. You didn't use your step. As you realized you were not using it to brush your teeth you said, "Mommy, I don't need my step anymore. We can sell it now. Only if I need water, you can hold me up to the sink...." I encouraged you to let us keep your stepping stool a little longer so that you could help me in the kitchen prepping meals and more. But I loved this moment....as I'm trying to simplify our lives by eliminating debt through the use of coupons, selling unwanted items and more, you too are picking up the lingo of the world around you. I try to encourage you through examples and telling you that we can't buy everything we see and want.... I pray that through my example(s) and life's lessons that you will continue to surround us, you will learn to live vicariously fulfilling the desires of your heart-------debt free! And yes, soon we'll sell your stepping stool or better yet donate it to someone who might be able to use it so they can stretch their family's budget.
At preschool, you are practicing your five senses......I can't wait to photograph your artwork from Monday and today---------I love your creations that you've brought home as you've learned about your senses! I'll treasure these pieces and our time together reviewing your senses at home. As you were eating dinner tonight, I asked you about which sense you were using---------mouth to taste the homemade vegetable beef soup! Love!
I think I hear subsiding thunderstorms. I must say goodnight little one and pray that one cup of regular coffee as I rode out the storm watching you sleep from your rocking chair won't keep me awake too long or we might just not hear that a.m. alarm again-------Normally, Daddy rides out the storms as we snuggle in bed together but his workload has him completely exhausted tonight!
I love you!
XOXO
