In 2010, Mrs. Polly, our favorite neighbor, introduced us to a beautiful field of Daffodils minutes from our home.....
In 2012, we returned for pictures amongst the flowers! You were thrilled to pick and pick and pick-------and run among them!
In 2013, the two of us drove out to see if the flowers had bloomed! We had just left Kroger. When we arrived at the field of Daffodils, your face was covered in something sticky and blue-----blueberries! And it was COLD......when I told you that we'd return in the morning, tears streamed down your face as you pleaded to stay! You love flowers so very much! I think your future husband shall know in advance----fresh cut flowers any size, any color-----are desired and beautiful in your eyes!
As promised the next morning, before our trip to Memphis, Mommy took you out to see the field of Daffodils. You made sure to tell me that you were "upset yesterday because you didn't get to see the flowers and pick them!" But now you have and you couldn't have been happier......we placed your small bouquet of flowers in a little vase in the window sill of our kitchen window to remind us that spring was around the corner.
.......and among the Daffodils, you found the weeds with teeny-tiny little purple flowers. When I suggested you not pick those, you said, "but Mommy I like these; they're so pretty!"
My prayer as your mother is that you will always choose the weeds even among the most beautiful layers of the world------see the beauty in everything, care for all, give more than you take and more!
My daughter, you I love! You shine among the glorious yellow blooms--------and each year we will seek out their beauty and walk among them. Maybe tomorrow, we'll return to the field of Daffodils because there's something simple and fulfilling about taking time to smell the flowers-------especially with you!
