Remnants of a cough/chest congestion have lingered this week too-------but it is almost gone! You didn't feel 100%---even after taking Friday off from preschool....and somewhere in between not feeling well, we're still struggling with tidbits of "separation anxiety" or as Mommy calls it "only child syndrome".....so to help you---and me both, I drew you two clock faces giving you a visual of the 24 hours in our day together. I showed you that preschool was only a little slice of the clock. To even help you understand it better, we talked about that little slice of time was like one small pizza slice. You're not really a fan of pizza but you're familiar with the visual of pizza slices. Thus, it helped. We rehearsed that we'd walk down the hall, hug, kiss, say "Mommy, I'll see you in a little bit! I'm going in to enjoy my little pizza slice!"-----with a smile! Tuesday & Thursday----perfect entry into your preschool classroom! I'm so proud of you! Right now this visual & auditory prop is helping you & me both------and we're following up with stickers at home to watch your success! I do believe you reminded me that we forgot our sticker today so I'm getting up right now to bring it to the living room where you stretch out on the couch in the morning! You'll be delighted to add your sticker to your calendar if you don't SEE Caroline first.........You see she's up to the adventures she was up to while we were in Greece this summer!
I always find what you say/think of prior going to sleep interesting. Tonight, before you drifted off to sleep you said, "Mommy, do you remember what Caroline was doing while we were in Greece? Making coffee and hanging off the door frames!?!" You just love mischief. Thus, I had to tell Daddy that you were thinking about Caroline and her own mischief. Yes! Daddy helped her create another "vignette" of wonder for you. She's stacked Mommy's computer chair and your little green chair on top of one another next to the fireplace. She's standing on the green chair with your NEW tape measure in her hand!!
I think she's a little jealous that Daddy came home at lunch today just to bring you your own tape measure for your work jeans! You see....this morning you woke up and dressed like Daddy to go to work with him again. You pulled on your jeans, a black t-shirt like Daddy, and your boots. But you didn't leave the house without your cell phone (Daddy's old phone) clipped to your jeans---like Daddy! At the shop, one of the boys commented that your phone was on the wrong side so you've learned to clip it on the left and......you needed a tape measure clipped to the right so I'm assuming that's what sparked Daddy's gift idea in the middle of the day! What a delight! Yet....another unexpected moment of joy!
Oh! How we love you and every little slice of life that lights up your world---from going to work with Daddy, two trips to the park, treasure hunts, dress-up, Pete the Cat's Big Lunch reading adventure or Cat, You Better Come Home-----the laughter that erupted when Puff, the cat, ends up in Greece! Or maybe the "zuzuzu" that Daddy and you have been adding to the end of sentences the last two nights just to add a little more fun to your day......even Mommy gave the game a go...zuzuzu! My favorite slices of life are those with you-------and those with Daddy and you....of course, it's like getting the entire pizza to myself! In the past, I have been known to finish an entire pizza myself------so although I don't like sharing my favorite pizza.....I'll share you......and Daddy...with the world just enough for the world to taste what I already have------you're both irreplaceable!! I love you both and our time together---always!
I love you little one and the independence you're gaining! I'll always be wherever you are---my heart will forever be outside of my body------and there with you! When you hear an extra heartbeat, it's mine!
