Just a Swinging

One of your absolute favorite pastimes is swinging. You love to go to the park in Dyersburg and try out ALL of the swings. When Mommy would head towards your preschool to pick up you up this spring, you were always occupying one of the swings outdoors with Mrs. Yvonne pushing you. Each time that we went to the park in Dyersburg, you were able to pump your legs and move your arms in rhythm to the swing going higher and higher! By the end of your three year old preschool year, you were able to conquer the swing yourself with a little initial push from Mommy or Daddy. You enjoyed Daddy's company at the park too this past spring. As soon as he arrived home from work, you requested to go to the park. We'd wait until after dinner to go but you loved each trip to the park-----always choosing to swing! As a young toddler, you loved to swing out back on the toddler swing hanging from our pecan tree. It would go HIGH & you giggled with delight as Daddy pushed you higher and higher! Many times, he'd have to run inside for a baby doll you requested to swing with you. Swinging continues to be a favorite of yours even here in Greece this summer. Not one swing that you see goes unused. It reminds me of this song, Just a Swinging...."There's a little girl in our neighborhood, her name is [Sophia Jackson] and she's really lookin' good. I had to go and see her, so I called her on the phone. I walked over to her house and this was going on: Her brother was on the sofa, eatin' chocolate pie, her Mama was in the kitchen cuttin' chicken up to fry. Her daddy was in the backyard rollin' up a garden hose, I was on the porch with [Sophia], feelin' love down to my toes...and we were Swingin', yes we were Swingin'...Little [Sophia] she's as pretty as the angels when they sing, I can't believe I'm out here on her front porch in this swing, just-a-swingin,Yeah, and we'll be swingin, yes, we'll be swinging. Little [Sophia] she's as pretty as the angels when they sang, I can't believe I'm out here on the front porch in the swang, just-a-swangin. Now [Sophia] she's the darlin', she's the apple of my eye, and when I'm on the swang with her it makes me almost high. And [Sophia] is my lover and she has been since the sprang, I just can't believe it started on her front porch in this swang. Just a swangin, well just a swangin, Little [Sophia] she's as pretty as the angels when they sang, I can't believe I'm out here on the front porch in the swang, just-a-swangin. I said, Little [Sophia] she's as pretty as the angels when they sang, I can't believe I'm out here on her front porch in the swang, just-a-swangin." One evening when Daddy, you, & I were sitting in our swing in the front yard, I asked Daddy to sing this song to you. He belted out a few lines of the song inserting your name in his country, Tennessee dialect and we laughed. You looked at him and said, "That's silly!" I love all of these moments with you! And I'm sure that one day, someone will enjoy swinging with our little angel, Sophia.....I may not be in the kitchen cuttin' chicken up to fry but I'll be watching you wondering where these years have gone........
