Orange Potato

You, Sophia, never cease to amaze me! I grin from ear to ear at all that you are learning each day---------and I love how words, phrases, & sentences trail out from your little mouth. Yesterday, July 29th was our fourth full day home from our six week vacation in Greece. We opted for a family day this Sunday after Daddy finished a few loose ends at work Sunday morning. The three of us drove to Jackson to eat lunch, browse retail stores, & shop at Sam's for meat & snacks for the month. Daddy suggested that we eat at Outback Steakhouse. The two of you reserved a table and ordered our food while Mommy drove over to Target for a few minutes. When I joined you all, Daddy let me know what all the two of you had ordered. I asked him if he ordered you a sweet potato and he said that you, yourself ordered "an orange potato with sugar on it" when the waiter was taking your orders! Daddy loved that moment------and hearing about it made me smile. You're such a healthy eater and you request fine foods! And the way you pull together your thoughts for your requests leave footsteps of joy all over our hearts!

When we were leaving Outback, we were driving to Marshall's and Ross. You requested to go to Ross since you remembered that they have toys. Mommy told you that Marshall's has toys too and that I'd rather go there first. However, I warned you that we'd only look at toys but not buy any. You agreed that we could go to Marshall's first but you also said, "If I see any prettier, prettier toys, I'm going to buy them and take them home to Dyersburg." Luckily, you didn't find anything you couldn't live without. You were happy to exit the store with your new dark pink sandals that you selected for your new back to school shoes (something that was on our shopping list)!

Tonight, we're cutting up our rib-eye loin to cook steaks for dinner! I'm sure you'll want another orange potato. You've already requested blue cheese to dip your steak in tonight. I know that we'll honor your requests after your four year old shots today! You only had two shots to receive for preschool since we'd completed the measles shot earlier (prior to traveling last year). However, you were a trooper! The nurse called you a "big girl" and noted that four year olds are hard patients to give shots to. You, however, didn't cry at all! Mommy held your right hand and Daddy held your left hand-------and there were no tears! Thus, we celebrate your our little school girl with a feast for a queen tonight-----orange potatoes & all!
