"Chronia polla agapi mou; na xerise to onoma sou!" Happy Name Day my love! Enjoy your name! You will discover that celebrating your name day is just as fun as celebrating your birthday-----almost! The custom originated with the Catholic and Orthodox calendar of saints. The Orthodox Christians promoted celebrations of Name Days where believers, named after a particular saint, would celebrate that saint's feast day--and today is Saint Sophia's Day! You were delighted to have a gift to open for your name day and for the many calls from family to come in wishing you a happy one! Several Facebook messages came through too just to wish you a happy name day------I loved sharing each with you with extra hugs and kisses. My favorite moment today was when Yiayia called. She told you that Papou wanted to wish you a happy name day too. I handed the phone to you and you told Papou, "Chronia polla Papou!"-----reversing the celebration in wishing him a happy name day! I loved it! It was great to laugh out loud as the three of us were connected in that moment of joy! Thus, as you discover more about the magic of name days in years to come, I wanted to wish you a Happy Name Day one more time before the night is over!
On another note.....Prevention magazine's recent list of ten items that are must do's for maintaining high levels of energy throughout the day reminded me to: Respect the ten o'clock hour! And as I look down.......the time is 15 past ten! I must crawl into bed earlier tonight to re-energize! I wanted to throw this tidbit of information in to you because sometimes these mini reminders are just what we need to refuel our tanks. As your mother, I'm sure that I'll remind you to respect the ten o'clock hour as often as I have to remind myself the same------we both need our beauty rest whether we are four or almost forty!
I love you little princess! I was delighted that you were excited about being the leader today at school. I don't doubt that you'll always be a leader!
