Fa La La La La La La La La La

Yesterday, Daddy asked the two of us to accompany him to Kentucky. He needed to inspect a lake house and some plumbing issues on a new construction for a client. Thus, we did just that.....
Dressed & Coloring Waiting for Daddy
We rode to Kentucky with Daddy. Our time together was priceless. You called Daddy from your cell phone (my old non-working cell phone)------the two of you chatted away about this and that! We sang Christmas music from your voice CD as we practiced your songs for your upcoming performance, Merry & Bright! Mommy and you played outside on the driveway rolling nuts from a tree down the hill. We also had access to another client's lake house. One room was full of girly, girl toys. You played endlessly before we cleaned up and headed to see if Daddy was done. You chose one baby doll and said, "This baby loves me!"------we talked about "borrowing" the baby doll but having to return it to its rightful owner but you convinced Daddy that she needed batteries first so she could crawl and walk......and talk or rather cry! You loved on that baby doll all the way home (since you had forgotten yours at home prior to leaving for KY----you even asked Daddy to find a turn around so we could go back and get her but we were already in Kentucky when you remembered that we had forgotten her)----- except for our stop in TJMAXX where you found glittery princess lip gloss and nail polish! You of course wanted it all but we told you that you could only pick one for your half birthday--------December 9th, 2012 marked the halfway mark until you turn five! When I explained this to you yesterday morning you said, "But Mommy, I'm already four!" So I told you that we are adding a half to that four.....and I displayed four fingers with a half of a thumb protruding to indicate that you were half of a thumb! So later in our day on the way home from KY or somewhere in KY, you told Daddy that you were "four and a half, four and half of a thumb"-------Daddy beamed! Before leaving Kentucky, we grabbed a few snapshots in the hazy rain-----in front of a garage converted into a cabin. It's delightful and just another one of Daddy's projects with its own story. I want you to have a keepsake of Daddy's projects so here are a few of those snapshots of the cabin's front porch!

Sophia & Daddy: Kentucky

Dinner at Olive Garden before our mini shopping spree--we bought princess lip gloss & your first snow sled!! Happy Half Birthday Princess! Now, we'll wait for the snow to fall this winter for additional family memories!!
At home, we changed the baby's batteries and put your sparkly lip gloss with princess crowns on them in your purse for safe keeping. In the truck last night, you informed me that "Now, I have my own lip glosses and I don't have to use yours Mommy!" You played with the baby doll (that we must return on our next trip)------had a bowl of cereal, brushed teeth, pottied, and crawled into bed for prayers and bedtime stories! We read, The Snowy Day and others----ending with your Christmas carol song/book! Last night while reading, you asked me, "Mommy, why does that word have a l a l a l a l?" You were looking at the word/phrase "Fa La La La La......" I laughed and explained that the l and the a together say la, la, la, la. So you'd combine two letters and ask me what sound they made....a few combinations of letters you found funny......others you just listened to..........and others you placed two consonants or two vowels together so I'd explain that I needed a consonant and a vowel.....to create a sound! You repeated that rule and we played until we both drifted off to sleep...........

These special family moments and the questions that bring you one step closer to becoming an avid reader squeeze my heart and it sings.......

Fa la la la, la la la, la la la!
