Where's Mary?

Yesterday, Mommy came to preschool to watch you and your classmates enjoy your lunches! Here's a little snapshot of you at lunch. Then, we ventured home together for your afternoon nap in the comfort of your bed-------you slept and slept and slept until I had to wake you for voice lessons! It was our last practice this semester before stage practice and your big show!

Preschool Lunch Time
When we arrived home prior to your nap, we found this.........a tangled mess of Mommy's favorite white Christmas lights with ornaments around the floor.....you stared at it speechless. I asked you if the Grinch came and took our Christmas tree!?! You didn't miss a bit. You said, "No Mommy, it was that silly Elf!" You were right! We stepped into the playroom to find that he had moved the tree to your playroom and outfitted it with YOUR FAVORITE LIGHTS-------colored lights! He even took time to hang the paper ornaments that we all made the night before! It looked amazing! You were thrilled and the smile on your face says it all! You couldn't even formulate your words to tell Daddy all about this adventure! You just said, "Daddy, come home! Come look and see what he did!"

I must say that Papou was on track in spotting this $4 yard sale find-----------I don't know why he thought I needed another Christmas tree but I did! And it's stories will live to tell why! We'll let this Christmas tree become your playroom Christmas tree and we'll decorate it as you wish each year! Today we added a glittery paper star to the tippy-top of it that you created in preschool.

When we read your Christmas books, you always ask me why do Christmas trees have stars on the top of them? One book tells the story of how it was the brightest star in the sky that indicated to the wise men that a miracle had taken place in Bethlehem where Jesus was born that Christmas Day so long ago. You love this story and you seem to have embraced its true meaning.

Today when I picked you up from preschool, I emptied your backpack to find these little pieces of art! They are precious. The red one below is a stencil of an angel and above her you wrote "MOM"----this simple piece of art touches my soul and gives me a little glimpse into your great, big heart! I love you!! The green piece of artwork below says, "Jesus loves me----(seems like you traced it backwards but it's perfect)"-----and you inserted the word, "DAD" to this one! Priceless. When you shared it with him, he thanked you for it and talked to you again about your heart being full! Sweet, sweet daughter of ours-----------you are our little blessing this Christmas!

"Look Mommy, I put Baby Jesus at the bottom!" I loved these little colored stickers and how nicely you placed each to create your manger scene! At home, when we looked at it again prior to dinner you asked, "Mommy, Where's Mary?" I pointed to the angel and asked you if you'd like to say she's Mary. "No Mommy, that's the angel!" So I told you that I'd print you a Virgin Mary from my desktop. We did just that...........You told Daddy......"but we haven't colored them yet!"

Where's Mary?
I must say that these memories are the best gifts this Christmas! I love you my thoughtful, detail-oriented girly, girl! You make my days perfect!

Side note: As we reread, The Snowy Day tonight, I inserted the word soggy next to the word wet to indicate how wet Peter's socks were from the snow! You stopped me and said that "soggy" was not written in the book and that it just said wet socks! I just love all that you are and everything you are learning!
