Although you missed Thursday's preschool festivities for Easter while you were home with the stomach bug, Thursday day at home brought much needed rest for you as your recouped. You spent the better part of the morning sleeping on the sheep skin rung in Mommy's and Daddy's bedroom floor as Mommy tackled morning chores and more. As the afternoon unfolded, we spent the rest of the afternoon outdoors Thursday. We moved your sheep skin rug to the front yard in the grass and we soaked up all the spring sunshine reading books, reading Dr. Jean's songs/rhymes-----and just relaxing. You were still as a bug on a rug, cat napping as your body recouped!
Then around four that afternoon, our neighbor, Mrs. Polly, came over to bring you an activity book for Easter and ready-made sugar cookie dough with her bunny rabbits, eggs, frogs, sheep, & more cookie cutters! You had just sprung to life with a little Sophia energy! We talked with Mrs. Polly. Then, you opted to ride your new Princess bicycle up and down the sidewalk. We played with and fed Princess Girl, your kitty. Then finally ventured inside for you to rest on the couch. You fell asleep for another hour before Daddy came home. Dinner was Popsicles for you and luckily you were able to keep them down all night. You slept like a rock----as did Mommy and Daddy. Friday, the two of us woke up to a quiet house-----It was Good Friday. Thus, with a non-school day we stayed home cleaning, playing, and running errands! You felt more like yourself but still didn't eat/drink like your usual self. For dinner, the three of us ventured out to eat Mexican. You took part in some of your usual Mexican dinner choices but lacked energy. Daddy and you played in front of the fireplace together before bedtime and once again you slept in until a little after eight this Saturday. It was a soggy Saturday. Thus, the two of us opted for a day indoors without venturing out to run errands. Daddy worked in Kentucky. The morning was quite busy as we added a golden egg to your spring green canvas! Mommy outlined it and you painted the egg gold.
We waited for it to dry and worked on the spring sugar cookies that Mrs. Polly brought for us to make. You drew her a picture as a Thank You note and Mommy followed up with a written thank you note too!
We snacked, cleaned, washed all the clothes, worked on ending sounds and more! And all along the clocked ticked....we worked in an afternoon nap with books. You played in the living room and in the playroom with your toys and in the tub until you were wrinkly pink. At the end of the night, you let the little tears stream down your eyes as you told Daddy goodnight over the phone (never gets easier when he's away). To forget that it was a soggy Saturday in more ways than one, we clipped your nails and painted them pink and purple like Easter eggs and added little flower nail stickers to two nails on each hand. We drank de-caffinated coffee together.
You opted for Yoga prior to bedtime but the little yawns that came one after another as you layed in the floor next to Mommy coaxed me to wrap up our night------brush teeth, potty, pick out books to read........but prior to reading we played with the light dimmer in the bathroom talking about what we do when the sun comes up and how we spend our day until the sun goes down-----and how in the end, we say goodnight (as the light went out) and the moon took over for the night! Little smiles emerged drowning out the tears of missing Daddy---"Do it again, Mommy!". Then after reading together in bed, I asked you what your favorite part of today was and you said, "Doing yoga!" I reminded you that we didn't finish doing yoga since your yawns were telling Mommy it was time to wrap up our day together. So I asked again......you replied that your favorite was, "...Doing yoga!" and you'd laugh. Daddy loves you and the witty little ways about you---always a ham! You are always on your toes evoking a laugh---a smile even in the dark, under the covers on this soggy Saturday night! You asked me tonight with a smile across your face and arms around my neck, "Mommy, do you want to get rid of me?" And of course, my response was never, ever, ever--------as I smothered you in kisses! I can't believe you didn't call me today like you did last weekend! I'll have to capture that story here for you too....
I love spending soggy Saturdays with you creating, learning------living life to the fullest!
And I love you......
