Treasures

The month of May is quickly disappearing. With only six days left in May, I'm reminded of the treasures the season has greeted us with and I wanted to capture a few before their precise moments of joy evaded my memory!

Today, we spent the morning at Studio On Main in Friendship, Tennessee preparing for your third Voice show! Then, we met up with Mrs. Dee and Drue and filled the afternoon with a perfect day of lunch with our friends-----and shopping adventures amidst a plethora of conversation ! It was wonderful to remove ourselves from our daily routine at home---although we've spent many hours outdoors together this month----with 2 to 3 trips to the park a day! As we were shopping, you picked up little plastic tags from clothing and played with them....a chain (dangling it and saying that Princess Girl would like it because it was just the right length for her to paw at), a penny, buttons, and more. A few of these items ended up in my jean pocket and traveled back home with us. Just before you fell asleep, you asked: "Mommy, where are my treasures?" I reassured you that they were in my jean pocket and you fell asleep.

Voice Practice @ Studio On Main: May 25, 2013
You find so much joy in finding treasures everywhere you go---odd items (mostly small, tiny items that end up all over the truck, in our house, on the counters, etc.). I have to toss most of them if not all because they are everywhere (and I prefer order rather than chaos of items). However, tonight after the perfect day away from home, I thought about you asking about your treasures and I wondered how to save them (or some of them) for you....I'm thinking! Of course, I'll photograph a few.......but the rest?? It's on odd array of items from glass to buttons to coins and more...I'm not sure what pleasure you derive from these little trinkets but you definitely enjoy searching for them everywhere we go. Your little eyes are always pierced--seeking for anything to gather!

Although these treasures you gather drive Mommy insane at times, I was reminded today that our memories together wouldn't be filled with joyful colors of acceptance and love if we didn't have them. There's an old cliche that says, "One man's trash is another one's treasure!" Thus, who am I to judge what catches your eye. I may not understand your desire to collect items from each one of our paths and from each of our days together but a small still voice tonight reminded me to accept, to love, to embrace these treasures

Here are a few treasures that Mommy loves---and a few that you love too (sometimes what the two of us treasure and love overlaps):

Naps for beauty sleep---& your ZEST for life! Also known as Mommy's coffee-time as I recharge to keep up with you when you wake-up and are ready to PLAY!
Even Princess Girl has been known to sneak and find her comfort spots in our home---you are delighted when she is allowed with Mommy's permission! Today, she darted in as Daddy was leaving for work. She was our alarm clock with her "Meow" for breakfast!
Peonies from our backyard that Yiayia planted when you were born! Mommy had bought them to plant but you arrived early, early. They've bloomed each spring. You watched the buds form and bloom this year. You were delighted to cut them and bring them in with Mommy one spring, rainy day last week! The raindrops glistened like diamonds promising us additional touches of joy! And their fragrance was perfect...."They smell good!" Your words ad you walked by them or the small vase we placed in the guest powder room!
I love to find my memos covered in NOTES by you! I always jot down what I want to remember as a visual note. Sometimes my notes are important and other times irrelevant but I have a note laying around---always! And I now ALWAYS find your notes on top of mine....on this one you even made the 'bullet' prior to writing out PhiaiEijiaia! LOVE!
You dressed yourself one day this May in your snowball shirt and puffy, purple skirt. When I looked at you that morning you said, "It doesn't match but it's okay Mommy!" Yes. It was a day of rest at home but I've learned to overlook what we are wearing in return for more time enjoying what's before us! Minnie Mouse is napping already!
You have my pen once again. You are using it to make smiley faces on the sight words that you know! Mimicking Mommy......I love that you love to read, write, and that you treasure our work together! Another treasure....our books. This one is Hugs! Hugs! Hugs! and flipped over it is Kisses! Kisses! Kisses! Reminding me that in this book, you first asked me what XOXOXO meant!!! My visual learner---I treasure you!
Another birthday celebration with friends and family----always a treasure!
A May Day wreath with Yiayia---a tad late in the month but nonetheless a picture opportunity! Even though the flowers were too large for the wreath's creations!
Dress-up Delights
Baby Loving
A heart we spotted in Mrs. Polly's ivy from inside our home while sitting on the couch one evening....we called our neighbor to share what we had spied! We love to play "I Spy" together!
Our home where treasures are found and held captive!
Your first strawberry plant! The squirrels devour the berries!
Your Favorite Past-Time Treasures: Popsicles. Dolls. Swings. Outdoors.

I love you little one; you are my treasure!
