Thursday morning came too early.....I had to wake you and let you stretch-stretch-stretch awake before cartoon/breakfast time. Then it was off to preschool. As we made it down the street towards your preschool you said, "Mommy, will you call Daddy and ask him if he can come pick me up from preschool if he's in town....and if he can't, you come pick me up!" After a HAPPY, coughing, bandaged up Sophia was dropped off, I called Daddy to ask him. He said he would. Thus, you were one little beaming princess after preschool when you walked through the backdoor with Daddy. He had to get back to work so the two of us were left home to eat lunch and let our day unfold. You immediately changed into pajamas when you left the kitchen. When I asked you what was going on you said, "I'm comfortable in my pajamas, don't you want to wear your pajamas too?" I didn't get back in mine though until bedtime tonight. Maybe I should have and let our errands in town wait because you stayed on GO all day whirling around my feet eager to explore, ask, go......Thus, we ran a few errands around town---picking up dry cleaning, going to the post office, by Daddy's shop, after more band-aids (speaking of these sticky brown things---they were all over the floor today...we just couldn't keep them on all of your wounds all at once)....we played at the park.....Mommy enjoyed a little quiet time just sitting. Then, we returned home to cook dinner and a berry crisp for dessert. Daddy arrived home a little after we had finished our dinner so we sat with him at the dinner table working on your kitty-cat pumpkin and on our writing journal while he ate. He took time to help you assemble the pumpkin-kitty's ears onto the top of her head. Daddy listened intently as you read the words you knew aloud to him and he laughed and laughed and laughed when you said, "Let's wake him up then so he can make a sound!" I was explaining to you that a sleepy "e" at the end of a word is silent so that "i" can say his name in the word "Like"! Daddy loves this wit about you! I had to laugh too! I don't ever recall another child in my classroom telling me to wake up the sleepy "e" at the end of the word. I pray that your Kindergarten teacher is ready for your humor! Silly girl!!!
At bedtime, Daddy and you played hide-and-go-seek! You stumped Daddy. He could not find you hiding in the pitch dark playroom under Mommy's desk. You didn't even give up your hiding place when he walked into the playroom looking for you! You are getting better and better at hide-and-seek. Although, I'll always love and remember our first games of hide-and-go-seek in the living room, "Daddy, I'm right here!"
When Daddy handed us your library books for bedtime stories tonight, he read the title: Isabella On the Go and commented that it should say, Sophia on the go! Thus, when we read the story together it fit you like a glove. I loved the ending that said, "No, Daddy," the little girl said. "I have explored the whole world and I have discovered the most wonderful place." "And where might that be, Sophia?" asked the father. "Our home," said the little girl as she took her father's hand and went inside to dream about where she would go...tomorrow!
We love you little one and pray that our home is always the most wonderful place!
