When I picked you up from preschool today, a little smudge of yellow outlined your lips. On Tuesday, red paint coated your dress, legs, and golden sandals. I love these Picasso Perfect Moments. Each color paints its own story---our story! On Tuesday, I guessed that you had painted an apple since you also came home with handouts with the letter Aa on them and a caramel apple from Mrs. Betsy. Today I didn't get a guess in but as soon as we finished our couscous and yogurt at the kitchen table, your little eyes lit up. "Mommy....." and a stream of words came out as you excitedly told me about a delicious corndog that you ate at preschool today. Then, I had my guess that the yellow paint around your lips was mustard. I reminded you then that the fair was tonight and that you could enjoy another corndog at the fair with Daddy if you wanted! "Yummy"---and a grin from ear to ear...I love, love, love these moments with you. My camera can't even begin to capture the zest for life that resonates in your little body.
After lunch, we enjoyed some quiet time at home reading, playing, and more! Run...run...run.... "Mommy, where are my scissors?" When I asked you why you needed your scissors you said, "To cut out your coupons!" I reminded you to cut them out on the dotted lines. A mini stack of jagged edged coupons made it to the kitchen table along with a little shopping list that you cut out for me. I love you little one. You're a BIG help to me. I may not be able to use every coupon that you cut out for us but knowing that you helped me beckons more savings that one or two coupons could ever save us. "Train up a child...." Proverbs reminds us.
Next, a box arrived. You wanted to open it. Thus, you pulled out your butter knife and cut the sides of the box's tape loose. Inside you found new little purple Havaianas for the end of summer! You needed them to flip-flop around the house in----and in the yard in too! We especially needed them for these last few days of swimming and for tumble and cheer classes. Flip-flop...to the bedroom, we went for storytime and a little shut eye. New flip-flops too! You made sure that I understood that they could be on the bed since they were new and not dirty. I asked you to take them off so that you could sleep better. Thus, two little flip-flops are nestled in bed with you little one.
You're always painting the perfect little stories in our lives. As you finish your afternoon slumber know that I love you more than God's perfect paintings (the ones He paints in the sky for us on special occasions)---I love you higher than the ferris wheel you'll ride tonight.....and I'm honored for the thanks you give when I least expect it: "Mommy, thank you for buying me new flip-flops. I love them!"

"YOKM"---these
are your letters for the spelling of "You're Welcome"---another
literary painting from you to me! I loved these inventive spellings from
my students in classrooms and how much more special are they from you
little one! You wrote this out on the back of a thank you note from
Kostas & Mary yesterday.
