Our SATurday

Sometime between the end of Friday night and Saturday morning, I decided that the last day of May didn't need any specific plans----although the first plan included sitting on the couch this morning with the promise to myself not to run from room to room cleaning and straightening up already clean rooms!?! Neatness. Planning. Organizing. Packing in all that I can in one day...Craziness. I needed today to relax a little more without an agenda.

A Note of THANKS to Mr. Joe

You always have your own finishing touches on notes, journals, & more!

A former principal once told me that I run circles around others!?! I don't often see what others see in me and maybe all they see is a crazy girl!?! I drive people bananas with endless energy to 'get things done'!?! I definitely am the let's quit talking about it and just do it person!?! I know, I know. I drive you bananas too, little one. I'm always rushing you to 'come on'---so today I tried really hard to just settle my energy levels and just sit about!?! Although I think you're just as much a mover as Mommy is in your own extraordinary ways!

SATurday included writing Mr. Joe a thank you note for your silver birthday coin! A trip to Kroger----that including giving a stack of current magazines that arrived in the mail today to Mrs. Karen----cake or icing rather with Mrs. Vernie at Kroger's deli area---swim time at Mr. Kent's and Del's swim party...cartoons and time on the couch just relaxing, snacking (and Mommy joined you on the other end of the couch)....outside time....sprinklers to sow the new grass seeds.......four games (your request right after the last bite of dinner) and more with Daddy......and, and.....somewhere in there we made a little trip downtown Dyersburg to The Recycle Bin to pick up a gift certificate that I had won in February earlier this year. We used the gift certificate to buy a few treasures---a white bone bracelet for Mommy, a little skateboard for you, a mirror (someone's project!?!), a round table with a heavy metal base (someone's project here too!?!), and a glass mug for the house to catch change and trinkets (It made me think of your love of winning on lottery tickets!?! A $20 win from a ticket Papou bought you this past weekend and another $20 win from a ticket Daddy bought you last night! The mug had a row of three cherries etched on it and the word JACKPOT etched below too---it's a little project in disguise to remove the CASINO name on the back of it but it will have stories to tell as it catches Daddy's change for us to use on other SATurdays out and about!?!)! The gift certificate covered all of these treasures too since the vintage store was closing its doors today (small businesses are hard to float---more stories to tell from Mommy's days in the restaurant business growing up)! When it was finally bedtime....it was late....the fun and games with Daddy continued...prayers...lights out and a once upon a time story about a little girl and her Mommy going to a used store unearthing treasures. "Mommy, tell me more!"

Relaxing on your end of the couch!

Mommy relaxing on her end of the couch (and you asking to take pictures with Mommy's camera when you were finished sitting still)!?!
Playing around with your "it's not a REAL skateboard Mommy" (pouting) but a mischievous smile emerging when I told you that you could use it with all your babies or repurpose it for a skateboard bed for a baby or....imagination until a full sized skateboard meets us!?!
"Daddy" (YOU Always Giving)
You are the treasure little one. I love that you love my stories. I love that you love hanging out with me. I love it when you said in the dark, "Mommy, if your poison ivy doesn't hurry up and go away I won't ever get to hug you!" So we hugged and hugged and hugged and laughed and I told you that I'd live with poison ivy all over my body so I wouldn't miss out on hugs with you. I told you that I'd itch until I had "itches in my britches" and you laughed and laughed. "That was the best hug ever!" you stated. I could see your smile stretch across your face.

So our SATurday ended full of unexpected, unplanned JOY---our hearts were fulfilled in these moments and just maybe our unplanned day will stretch into Sunday's unturned treasures that will continue to fill tomorrow's pages of our legacy!

I love you little one---and remember that even when life is busy and noisy and things must get done, it is appropriate to take a day to just sit around. Give yourself a break to relish what comes into your day!
